The Atlanta Peachtree Chapter Story

Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD) is a national, non-profit (501(c)3), educational, and humanitarian organization that was chartered in Tyler, Texas in 1964. The mission of the organization is to enhance and enrich the lives of youth and adults through national and community based programs and projects. Our success is measured by the improved quality of life experienced by the people we serve. Top Ladies of Distinction has a membership of over 5,000 women and 100 chapters, located in six geographical areas of the United States. The TLOD programs and projects focus on five thrusts: (1) Youth Development, (2) Enhancement of Status of Women, (3) Services to Senior Citizens, (4) Community Beautification and (5) Community Partnerships. TLOD has also formed coalitions with other organizations, including UNCF, NAACP, and NCNW.

The Atlanta Peachtree Chapter of TLOD was chartered on June 26, 2010 with thirteen new members and four transfer members. Since our establishment, APC has volunteered with South-View Cemetery, the oldest African-American “non-eleemosynary” corporation in the country, located in Atlanta, GA, that serves as the final resting place for over 70,000 African Americans; celebrated Grandparents Day and Christmas with the residents of Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center; partnered with the Apex Museum, an African American museum that celebrates the achievements of unsung heroes; and participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. As you can see, APC is definitely making waves in the community with many more service opportunities developing for the future!
